BLOCKTHEM INTERNET FILTER

Home - Computer Monitoring - BlockThem - Support 1 2

SYSTEM OPTIONS
In the upper right corner of this panel you may configure the log file settings, including the log's filename, location, and maximum size (if any).

In the lower left corner, you may customize the error message that is displayed when the Internet filter detects a restricted URL. HTML markup is supported.

You may also change your administrator password, and turn monitoring on or off from the System Options control panel.

It is recommended that you leave the default setting for "Always Restrict Root URL" (checked) unless you have only a few specific web pages to block.

INTERNET FILTER OPTIONS
This panel is where you set the criteria that BlockThem uses to restrict Internet content.

On the left side of the screen you may simply add words that BlockThem will look for in the title of each webpage. If any of the words are found, the browser will display the warning message that you entered on the previous panel. This creates a general Internet filter. If you need ideas for words to enter, visit a few adult sites and look at the keywords used in the title bar, page headers, and source code.

If you want the Internet filter to block specific sites or url's, enter them in the "Restricted Sites" box. For full restriction, you must enter all url combinations. For example, if you wanted to block the Yahoo! homepage, you would have to enter both "yahoo.com" and "www.yahoo.com". If you wanted to block access to Yahoo! webmail, you would need to enter "mail.yahoo.com" as well.

If you wish to block homepages or entire sites, instead of just specific pages, make sure that "Always Restrict Root URL" is checked on the System Options.

LOG OPTIONS
This is where you load log files for viewing websites recorded by BlockThem. Click the Open Folder icon to view the most recent activity. Log files may be saved or printed using the icons to the right.

Select a site entry and click the Clipboard icon to copy the url to the clipboard. You may then paste it into your browser for viewing.

Select a site entry and click the red crossbars to add that url to the restricted list.
